- Key Terms
Circulation- The number copies of a magazine that have been distributed/sold
Readership- The number of people who read/access the magazine. This is always a larger number than circulation because people may leave a magazine and then other people will flick through the same copy and view it.
Frequency- How often a new issue is released. Weekly, Bi-weekly, quarterly or monthly.
Trim- This is where the final cut will be made to make your leaflet the final size. That's why we have the bleed area, to make sure your background comes right to the edge.
Bleed- This is the area where the background colour/graphics should cover if they are to be printed to the final edge of the leaflet.
Safe Area- Any text or graphic placed inside the dashed line is safe from trimming. Important info should be placed within the safe area.
Advertising rates
The rate will be dependant on circulation and readership figures as this will show potential advertisers how many people the magazine reaches so therefore how many people will view the adverts. The cost will be dependant on how big the advertisement is. The size of an advertisement and the place it is in the magazine will also affect the price.
The back cover advert is the most expensive as you do not need to read the magazine in order to see it. The paper on the back cover is a higher quality paper, this means that the weight is more so, therefore, more will be charged.
The target audience will also make a difference in the price.
